Spring is just around the corner. For most of us, that means lighter temperatures, lighter days, and lighter clothing. But for many, it also means the promise of fall fashion.
Vancouver Fashion WeekFrom March 24 to 29, Vancouver Fashion Week will once again turn the
city into a hub of cutting edge fashion design. Showcasing the
Fall/Winter collections of both internationally acclaimed and
emerging designers, this season is set to be VFW’s biggest ever. It
first kicks off in Whistler, and then it moves to the main stage at
Storyeum in Gastown. So far, over 20 shows have been scheduled, along
with entertainment, exhibits, and parties happening all over Vancouver.
Now in its 9^th year and 16^th season, VFW is sharpening its focus on
the growing trends of street wear, ski/snowboard gear, and
sustainable fashion. Inspired by the sneaker culture and hipsters of
New York’s Lower East Side, street wear has gained tremendous
momentum in Vancouver. Recognizing its popularity, VFW is dedicating
one of its days to highlighting innovative designs from this genre.
Another day has been set aside up in Whistler for ski and snowboard
apparel, a trend that’s quickly moved off the slopes and onto the
streets. VFW is partnering up with many designers who are not only
supporting sustainability, but also embracing socially responsible
practices in their work.
This exciting bi-annual event is not just exclusive to industry
professionals and influential consumers, it’s open to the general
public as well. Considering that they’ve shown such renowned talent
as Versace, Parasuco, Rocawear, Ecko, and Anna Sui in the past, this
is definitely not to be missed. For a complete designer line-up,
